8 ways to DIY a Princess Room

1.jpg

Considered styling your little one’s room yourself? Perhaps a Disney Princess themed room but just for a while, nothing too fancy nor too permanent? I have just the 8 ideas to get you started.

Some of the ideas I’ve stated can be downloaded and made yourself - some are even totally free downloads! So here they are:

1) Wall decals or stickers

This is great if you don’t want anything too elaborate and you can eventually remove it if you want to change the decor. Don’t apply anything too permanent since the kids do outgrow them! Of course, the name is always customizable. See more about it here.

Wall Poster Art

I thought this set of water colour prints was really nice and subtle. They would look great together in a set for a little girl’s room, in a nice set of plain frames. You can check it out here. Alternatively, you could always look for printables instead which you can download off the bat and print them out yourself (see next point).

Printables

There are plenty of free printables you can find on Etsy which you can frame up yourself. I did up some of own and they are available totally for free, completely print-ready - part 1 and part 2!

This is an example of my Merida one below and there are 14 of them in total! All of them are square images. Will be releasing another printable post again soon… Do leave a comment down below if you love them so that I will know to make more of them in the future!

Lightbox or lanterns

These are also available for free here! It’s courtesy of Mandee Thomas, she has this great range of disney princess lanterns you can just download from her site for free, just cut it up and make them by yourself!

Blanket Applique

I felt that I must include this because some of the applique crochet patterns from The Yarn Conspiracy are just beautiful! These are some examples but there are many more in their Etsy store. You can just download the pattern and start making them on your own. All you have to do then is to sew it onto the children’s blankets!

Bedding

Then there’s of course bedding to spruce up the room. These are generally also very interchangeable in the room when you want to change things up. This particular set is of course for the nursery.

Teepee Tent

This is just great for toddlers and kids in general, this particular teepee set can probably fit 2 kids inside. Of course, there’s some assembling involved but it’s pretty straight forward. Also easy to disassemble and put aside when it is no longer in use. Or just get kid involved in the assembly process!

Hanging mobile

Last but not least, try your hand at crocheting a Disney Princess hanging mobile. It’s great for nursery crib mobiles or just decorating a toddler’s room. It’s almost that much more meaningful if you make it yourself!

This is how my final set looked like when I decided to hang ALL the girls on it! I have a full tutorial here on how to assemble the whole mobile. All you really need are some strings and an embroidery hoop. And of course the crochet part of it - skills and yarn!

If you want to test out making Elsa first, check out this free Elsa pattern!

Look out for the full bundled pattern set at the end of the month!
