Crocheting different Animal Positions

So I’ve been trying to figure out different ways to make different animal positions. I have done up some animal positions previously but that is something I would like to explore more of. For the next collection I’m releasing, I did attempt to try a few more animal positions to try out in my woodland creatures so stick around to check that out.

For now, I have experimented with animals in upright sitting position, sitting with outstretched legs, lying with an upright head position and standing on all 4 legs. I’m still in the process of learning and figuring out more amigurumi positions! If there are any particular animal position styles that you would be interested in, do comment in box below!

Sitting upright

For my latest rabbit amigurumi, I tried to create a kind of sitting position with the legs tucked in at the sides. Not sure if I managed to achieve it but I’m still refining my designs! In this case, the body is more in a vertical position with the base being wider, where I add the legs at the side.

Sitting with legs outstretched

Trying to create this effect requires attachment after finishing the main body. Alternatively, I could also do surface crochet directly onto the main body. In this Road Runner case, I sewed on the legs separately to see where the leg positions will look best. *If you would like to check out the full Looney Tunes series, you can see more here.*

Lying with upright head

This is one of my newer techniques to try and making a horizontal lying body without having to attach the head separately to the body, like for the amigurumi below. The ears, head and body were made in one continuous stitch but the 4 small feet were attached on separately. He supposed to be laying stance with a outstretched head looking around. The tail is also separately attached and wrapped around the pumpkin. What do you think of it?

Standing on 4 legs

This was one of my older patterns, where I still did a lot of assembly work. The snout, ears, head, body, tail and 4 legs are all separate pieces that had to be assembled together at the end, which was not too fun! Unfortunately, sometimes assembly works can produce nicer amigurumi results at the end but I’m working on trying to make all my animal patterns seamless as much as possible.
