Here is a quick and easy crochet mini Christmas lights pattern to try out! It is also similar to crocheting fairy lights! There is no attachment or sewing involved and the whole Christmas light in made in one long continuous chain! It can be completed in less than 30 minutes and great for accessorizing your home or even your kid’s toys.

Introduction to Crocheting Mini Christmas Lights
In this post, we will first be starting off with the relevant supplies and techniques you would need to crochet this Christmas Light garland - there are 4 colours involved and it is really up to you the colours you pick, I just chose festive ones. Then we will head into the crochet Christmas Light tutorial proper.
As this is an ambitious beginner friendly pattern, here you will learn how to crochet simple single crochet stitches and also bobble stitches on chains for the bulbs. I have used this bobble on chain technique before for my amigurumi limbs. After you have tried this Christmas Lights pattern and mastered bobble stitch on chain, you can try this free monkey pattern!

Supplies and Techniques for Crocheting Mini Christmas Lights
Here I have listed the techniques as well as the materials needed to crochet a mini Christmas Light garland amigurumi. There are also some special stitches involved in crocheting these lights which are listed below (bobble stitches) and they are also individually linked to tutorials which will be helpful if you do not know how to make these stitches.

Terminology for Crocheting Christmas Lights
Ch = chain
St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)
4dc bob = 4 double crochet bobble stitch
= yo, insert hook in indicated, yo, pull up loop, yo, draw through 2 loops, [yo, insert hook in same, yo, pull through 2 loops] 3 times, yo, pull through 5 loops on hook
Materials and Tools for Crocheting Christmas Lights
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Version 1 - Grey, Bright Red, Bright Green, Yellow (25gm each)
Version 2 - Grey, Maroon, Dark Green, Yellow (25gm each)
Darning needle
Scissors

Now that you have gathered your supplies and had a look at the basic terminology to reading the following pattern, let us first get started!
Yarn
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Crochet hook
2.5-3.0mm Clover crochet hook
Darning Needles
Stitch Markers
Plastic stitch markers or metal stitch markers
Crochet Christmas Lights Pattern
Start off with grey yarn. The lights will be made in various colours including red, green and yellow.
Ch100 (grey)
Working into 2nd ch from hook, sl st 4 (grey), [sl st 1 (grey), ch2 (grey), ch3 (maroon), 4dc bob into 3rd ch from hook (maroon), sl st 2 (grey), sl st 1 back into main st (grey)]
Continue along the light chain, sl st 4 (grey)
Then [sl st 1 (grey), ch2 (grey), ch3 (green), 4dc bob into 3rd ch from hook (green), sl st 2 (grey), sl st 1 back into main st (grey)]
Continue along the light chain, sl st 4 (grey)
Then [sl st 1 (grey), ch2 (grey), ch3 (yellow), 4dc bob into 3rd ch from hook (yellow), sl st 2 (grey), sl st 1 back into main st (grey)]
Continue along the light chain, sl st 4 (grey)
Then [sl st 1 (grey), ch2 (grey), ch3 (maroon), 4dc bob into 3rd ch from hook (maroon), sl st 2 (grey), sl st 1 back into main st (grey)]
Continue along the light chain, sl st 4 (grey)
Then [sl st 1 (grey), ch2 (grey), ch3 (green), 4dc bob into 3rd ch from hook (green), sl st 2 (grey), sl st 1 back into main st (grey)]
Continue along the light chain, sl st 4 (grey)
Then [sl st 1 (grey), ch2 (grey), ch3 (yellow), 4dc bob into 3rd ch from hook (yellow), sl st 2 (grey), sl st 1 back into main st (grey)]
Continue this sequence of lights in maroon-green-yellow for total 6 sets, and then finally end off with last light in red.
Continue along the light chain, sl st 4 (grey)
Then [sl st 1 (grey), ch2 (grey), ch3 (maroon), 4dc bob into 3rd ch from hook (maroon), sl st 2 (grey), sl st 1 back into main st (grey)]
Finally sl st 5 (grey) and fasten off
Quick Tip
Cut off yarn after each bobble stitch is done and tie it up. Conceal the knot inside the bobble stitch so that the mini sphere looks perfect!
