Ice Cream Snowman Crochet Pattern

Ice Cream Snowman Crochet Pattern
Let us start off with the terminology and the equipment you need to get to finish this pattern - you will need 4 colours, white, black, red and brown.
Terminology
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)
Hdc = half double crochet
Dc = double crochet
2sc1 = single crochet increase (means 2 single crochet in same st)
Sc2tog1 = single crochet decrease
FLO = front loop only
BLO = back loop only
Special Stitches
= yo, insert hook in indicated, yo, pull up loop, yo, draw through 2 loops, [yo, insert hook in same, yo, pull through 2 loops] 4 times, yo, pull through 5 loops on hook
Surface sc = surface single crochet
holding working yarn behind piece, hook in front of piece, insert hook through piece, yo, pull yarn through piece, proceed to sc
Materials and Tools
Scheepjes Catona (or any equivalent cotton or acrylic yarn)
White, black, red, brown
Filling – use leftover yarn or polyester fiberfill
Optional - consider safety eyes if you do not know how to do a french knot
Ice Cream Snowman Head
Start off the head with white yarn.
Round 1: Magic ring sc5 (white) - 5st
Round 2: 2sc5 (white) - 10st
Round 3: 2sc10 (white) - 20st
Round 4: Sc20 (white) - 20st
Round 5: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 10 (white) - 30st
Round 6: Sc30 (white) - 30st
Round 7: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 5 (white), 4dc bob (red), sc2tog1 (white), (sc1, sc2tog1) x 4 (white) - 20st
Round 8: Sc20 (white) - 20st
Cut off red yarn. Add stuffing to head.
Round 9: Sc2tog10 (white) - 10st
Ice Cream Snowman Body
Continue from Round 9 of head into body using white yarn.
Round 10: 2sc10 (white) - 20st
Round 11: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 10 (white) - 30st
Round 12: Sc30 (white) - 30st
Round 13: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 10 (white) - 20st
Round 14: Sc20 (white) - 20st
Add stuffing to body.
Round 15: Sc2tog10 (white) - 10st
Round 16: 4sc10 FLO (white) - 40st
Ice Cream Snowman Cone
Continue from unworked BLO in Round 16 using brown yarn this time.
Round 17: 2sc10 BLO (brown) - 20st
Cut off white yarn and continue using brown yarn only.
Round 18: Sc20 (brown) - 20st
Round 19: Sc20 (brown) - 20st
Round 20: Sc2tog10 (brown) - 10st
Add stuffing to the cone.
Round 21: Sc10 (brown) - 10st
Round 22: Repeat Round 21 - 10st
Round 23: Sc2tog5 (brown) - 5st
Round 24: Sc5 (brown) - 5st
Round 25: Sc5 (brown) and end off - 5st
Ice Cream Snowman Eyes
Use black yarn and french knot embroidery to create both eyes, about 1 row above nose and 3 stitches apart from each other.
Then using the same black yarn, sew a smile right about the face and the sides of the smile as well.
Ice Cream Snowman Hat
Use red yarn to crochet the hat.
Round 1: Ch2, 3sc1 in 2nd ch from hook (red) – 3st
Round 2: Sc3 (red) – 3st
Round 3: Sc1, 2sc1, sc1 (all red) – 4st
Round 4: Sc4 (red) – 4st
Round 5: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 2 (red) – 6st
Round 6: Sc6 (red) – 6st
Round 7: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 3 (red) – 9st
Round 8: Sc9 (red) – 9st
Round 9: (Sc2, 2sc1) x 3 (red) – 12st
Round 10: Sc12 (red) – 12st
Round 11: (Sc3, 2sc1) x 3 (red) – 15st
Round 12: Sc15 (red) – 15st
Round 13: (Sc4, 2sc1) x 3 (red) – 18st
Round 14: Sc18 (red) – 18st
Round 15: (4dc bob, sc1) x 9 (all white) - 18st
Evert all the bobble stitches in the last round from the bottom up.
Then sl st 1 and end off.
Cut off white and red yarn.
Bend the tip of hat and fold it down, sew it down to the middle of the hat.
Pouf at top of Hat
Switch to using new set of white yarn.
Surface sl st white yarn over Round 1 of hat then 4dc bob, sl st 1 in same st.
Ice Cream Snowman Scarf
(Ch1 red, ch1 white) x 36
Tie around neck of snowman as the scarf.
Ice Cream Snowman Assembly
Tie scarf around neck of snowman.
Embroider on the eyes and sew on the mouth.
Remember to fold and sew down the hat in the middle.
Attach the hat onto the top of the snowman’s head, slightly slanted to the right side.
Only sewing part is the hat onto snowman’s head!
