Free Crochet Valentine Gift Box Pattern
Thinking of crocheting a small gift box this Valentine’s Day to hide a small special present? Making it yourself can be such a heartfelt gesture, on top of the gift you intended inside. It is the most complex out of all the heart related patterns I have released and yet the most precious!

Introduction to Crocheting Valentine Gift Box
In this post, we will first be starting off with the relevant supplies and techniques you would need to crochet this small heart box. Here to make this heart, we be using 2 different yarn colours. Then we will head into the pattern proper.
As this is a beginner friendly pattern, here you will learn how to crochet a heart shape without any special stitches, just increases and decreases in single crochet. Also, you will learn how to do multiple colour changes in amigurumi.

Supplies and Techniques for Crocheting a Heart Gift Box
Here I have listed the techniques as well as the materials needed to crochet a flat 2D heart. Terminology for Crocheting Valentine Gift Box
Ch = chain
St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)
2sc1 = single crochet increase (meaning 2 single crochet in same stitch)
Sc2tog1 = single crochet decrease (referring to invisible decrease)

Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Version 1 - Pink (25gm each)
Version 2 - Red (25gm each)
Darning needle
Scissors

Now that you have gathered your supplies and had a look at the basic terminology to reading the following pattern, let us first get started!
Yarn
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Crochet hook
2.5-3.0mm Clover crochet hook
Stuffing
Use leftover yarn or polyester fibrefill
Darning Needles
Safety Eyes
4mm glass eyes or safety eyes
Stitch Markers
Plastic stitch markers or metal stitch markers
Crochet Valentine Gift Box
Base of box
Start off making base with white yarn, get ready pink yarn as well.
Row 1: Ch2 (white)
Row 2: Work into 2nd ch from hook, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 2st
Row 3: 2sc2, ch1 and turn (all white) - 4st
Row 4: 2sc1, sc2, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 6st
Row 5: 2sc1, sc4, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 8st
Row 6: 2sc1 (white), sc6 (white), 2sc1, (white), ch1 and turn (pink) - 10st
Row 7: 2sc1, sc8, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all pink) - 12st
Row 8: 2sc1 (pink), sc10 (pink), 2sc1 (pink), ch1 and turn (white) - 14st
Conceal pink yarn under white stitches and also white yarn under pink stitches.
Row 9: 2sc1, sc12, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 16st
Row 10: Sc8, turn (white) - 8st
Row 11: Sc2tog1, sc4, sc2tog1, turn (all white) - 6st
Row 12: Sc2tog1, sc2, sc2tog1, turn (all white) - 4st
Row 13: Sc2tog2, turn (all white) - 2st
Row 14: Sc2tog1 and end off (white) - 1st
Surface slip knot with white yarn to the middle of Row 9.
Row 10: Sc8, ch1 and turn (white) - 8st
Row 11: Sc2tog1, sc4, sc2tog1, turn (all white) - 6st
Row 12: Sc2tog1, sc2, sc2tog1, turn (all white) - 4st
Row 13: Sc2tog2, turn (all white) - 2st
Row 14: Sc2tog1 and end off (white) - 1st
Sides of base of box
Continue in rounds from rows previously.
Round 1: Sc1 (white) in same previous stitch, place stitch marker at this start of round, sc5 (white), sc2 (pink), sc5 (white), 2sc1 (white), sc5 (white), sc2 (pink), sc5 (white), sc6 (white), sc7 (white) - 40st
Conceal pink yarn under white stitches and also white yarn under pink stitches.
Round 2: Sc6 (white), sc2 (pink), sc12 (white), sc2 (pink), sc18 (white) - 40st
Round 3: Repeat Round 2 - 40st
Round 4: Sc4 (white), sc2tog1 (white), sc2 (pink), sc4 (white), sc2tog1 (white), sc4 (white), sc2tog1 (white), sc2 (pink), (sc4, sc2tog1) x 3 (white) and end off - 34st
Cover Base
Row 1: Ch2 (white)
Row 2: Work into 2nd ch from hook, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 2st
Row 3: 2sc2, ch1 and turn (all white) - 4st
Row 4: 2sc1, sc2, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 6st
Row 5: 2sc1, sc4, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 8st
Row 6: 2sc1, sc6, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all white) - 10st
Row 7: 2sc1 (white), sc8 (white), 2sc1, (white), ch1 and turn (pink) - 12st
Row 8: 2sc1, sc10, 2sc1, ch1 and turn (all pink) - 14st
Row 9: 2sc1 (pink), sc12 (pink), 2sc1 (pink), ch1 and then (white) - 16st
Row 10: 2sc1, sc14, 2sc1, ch1 and then (all white) - 18st
Row 11: Sc9, turn (white) - 9st
Row 12: Sc2tog1, sc5, sc2tog1, turn (all white) - 7st
Row 13: Sc2tog1, sc3, sc2tog1, turn (all white) - 5st
Row 14: Sc2tog1, sc1, sc2tog1, turn (all white) - 3st
Row 15: Skip 1st, sc2tog1 (white) and end off - 1st
Surface crochet slip knot with white yarn to the middle of Row 10, finish up till Row 15 with white yarn only.
Row 11: Sc9, ch1 and turn - 8st
Row 12: Sc2tog1, sc5, sc2tog1, turn - 6st
Row 13: Sc2tog1, sc3, sc2tog1, turn - 4st
Row 14: Sc2tog1, sc1, sc2tog1, turn - 2st
Row 15: Skip 1st, sc2tog1 and end off - 1st
Continue in rounds from rows previously.
Round 1: Sc1 (white) in same previous stitch, place stitch marker at start of round, sc5 (white), sc2 (pink), sc6 (white), 2sc1 (white), sc6 (white), sc2 (pink),sc6 (white) at top half of heart, sc6 (white) from top to middle, sc7 (white) from middle back to starting point again - 43st
Conceal pink yarn under white stitches and also white yarn under pink stitches.
Round 2: Sc6 BLO (white), sc2 BLO (pink), sc14 BLO (white), sc2 BLO (pink), sc19 BLO (white) - 43st
Ribbon
Only use pink yarn to make ribbon.
Ch51
Row 1: Sc50 and end off - 50st
Tie a ribbon using the crocheted piece above. Then sew it down to the middle of pink band at the top of heart box cover.
